IMPERIAL CONFERENCE MR FRASER TO ATTEND ALSO GOING TO SAN FRANCISCO (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Mar. 23. The Prime Minister. Mr P. Fraser, announced to-day that he would represent the New Zealand Government at the forthcoming British Commonwealth Conference in London, and that the other members of the New Zealand delegation would be the High Commissioner in London, Mr W. J. Jordan, and the Minister in Washington. Mr C. A. Berendsen. “It is, I know, generally realised that the decisions which will be taken in regard to the world organisation both in London and in San Francisco, will be of paramount importance to New Zealand,” Mr Fraser said. “The preliminary talks in London have been called by the United Kingdom Government for the purpose of enabling Dominion representatives, and particularly the Dominion Ministers of External Affairs, to have preliminary discussions on the proposals which all the United Nations are to consider at San Francisco on April 25. In the London talks the Union of South Africa will be represented by the Prime Minister. General Smuts, and Australia by the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr F. M. Forde, and the Minister of External Affairs, Dr H. V. Evatt. Delegations are also proceeding from Canada and India.” The New Zealand delegation to San Francisco was still under consideration, Mr Fraser added, but he himself would lead it, and Mr Berendsen would also be a New Zealand delegate. Mr Fraser, who will be leaving New Zealand very shortly, will be accompanied by Mr A. D. Mclntosh and Mr J. V. Wilson, of the Department of External Affairs, and Miss K. G. Jordan, private secretary.
