Tlte first big sale at hie new Cromwell yards was held yesterday. There was a capacity yarding. Over 12,000 sheep were penned and with the assistance of outside buyers a good clearance was effected, a large part of the yarding going to Canterbury operators. The export representatives secured the bulk of the entry of fat sheep and lambs. Quotations; Two-tooth crossbred ewes, 26s to 31s 6d; two-tooth halfbred ewes. 17s to 21s; four six and eigh.-tooth ewes (light condition), 21s; better sorts to 235; full-mouth ewes, 17s to 21s 9d; full and failing-mouth ewes, IDs 9d to 15s; cull ewes 6s to 11s; wether lambs (best sorts), lbs to 19s; lighter.
