PALMERSTON STOCK SALE

About 14,000 head of sheep came forward at the Palmerston stock sale yesterday- There was a good selection of lambs, and the entry of ewes was a large one hut there were few wethers foiwaid- The lambs met free competition the bulk of the best going to North Otago buyers. There was a satisfactory sale for both ewe and wether lambs. In the ewe section well-grown, strong-wool types sold well but the finer breeds rmet with an indifferent and erratic inquiry, a few lots failing to reach the vendors reserve. Wethers sold at late rates. Quotations: Best annual draft ewes, fine crossbred, 24s Gd to 26s 6d; halfbred. 20s 6d to 235; full and failing-mouth crossbred ewes 13s to 21s: low-conditioned halfbred,’ 15s to 17s,Gd; old ewes, from 11s 3d- average crossbred two-tooth ewes, 35s 6s’ to 38s; extra good rape lambs, —s 10s; good. 19s to 21s 7d; medium, 16s 6d to 18s; medium wether lambs. 15s to 16s; small, 12s to 13s 6d; m.s. lambs, 19s bd lo 22s 9d; extra good ewe lambs. 32s 2d, good, 27s to 295; medium. 22s 6d to 255; small, from 17s 6d; two-tooth wethers, 24s- fat and forward wethers, 28s to 30s 3d.
