ALEXANDRA STOCK SALE
There was a full yarding of about 10,000 sheep at the Alexandra stock sale yesterday, consisting chiefly of store Jamos and breeding ewes. A fair number of fat sheep were also penned, and the bulk of these were secured by the export buyers who were operating freely. The prices realised throughout were rn a par with other Central Otago sales. A few pens of good first cross ewe iambs were yarded, and were the feature of the sale, the best pen making 28s Id. The sheep were all in excellent condition.
Quotations: Two-tooth crossbred ewes, 29s to 355; i'ull-mouthed crossbred ewes (best sorts), 20s Id to 24s 4d; others, 14s to 18s 6d; full and failing-mouth ewes, 6s to' 11s 6d. A choioe line of merino ewes made 17s 3d. Two-tooth halfbred ewes, 20s to 235; crossbred wether lambs, ,12s 6d to 17s 3d; halfbred wether lambs, 13s to 15s; culls, 10s 6d; crossbred ewe lambs, to 23s 3d; halfbred ewe lambs, 23s 4d to 28s Id. A good line of mixed sex crossbred lambs, 24s 3d; small, 12s 6d to 14s; two-tooth wethers, 23s 3d; fat wethers, 27s to 365; lighter, 19s to 255; fat ewes, 14s 8d to 19s 9d.
