RETURNED SERVICES
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE Mr D. Forsyth presided at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Dunedin Returned Services’ Association last evening, and there were also present—Messrs H. P. Jefcoate, C. R. McLean, C. G. Hedge, W. K. Cameron, W. F. McQuin, W. R. Porter, A. Duncan, W. E. Earnshaw, S. G. Scoular, and S. P. Cameron. New Members Sixty nominations for membership were approved, three of these being from members of the Ist N.Z.E.F. and the remainder from ex-servicemen of the present war. Six transfers in and eight out were approved. Limb-fitting Depot In reply to representations whicn had been made to the Rehabilitation Department concerning the proposed shifting of the- limb-fitting depot to the Disabled Servicemen's League premises, the Pensions Department wrote advising that the carrying out of this suggestion had been deferred pending a policy being decided upon. The Executive Committee had requested the Rehabilitation Department to defer the transfer. Gift Calf Scheme Letters of thanks and appreciation were received from two returned servicemen who had been given stock under the gift calf scheme. One of them stated in his letter that the association’s action had enabled him to start off on the same basis as established farmers. Other Business In reply to a suggestion by Mr Porter that the executive express its opinion regarding the increased allowances to soldiers and their dependents, it was decided to refer the matter to the General Committee for a report. It was decided to call a meeting lot April 5 to ‘discuss arrangements tor this year’s study circles.
