REFUGEES IN BRITAIN
GERMANS AND AUSTRIANS MANY KEEN TO REMAIN (Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON, Mar. 21. The majority of 40,000 German and Austrian refugees in Britain are here under temporary permits which will come up for review at the end of the war, says the Daily Express. The Government is at present discussing a plan for refugees under which onethird will settle in Britain finally to become British subjects, one-third will return to the Continent, and onethird will emigrate to the British Empire. Many of the refugees want to stay in Britain because they have built up businesses here. The permission or the dominions and colonies will have to be sought before the refugees will be able to be sent to them. During the war 13,000 refugees have gone from Britain to the United States.
