CONCERTS FOR PATIENTS
Members of the Otago Justices of the Peace Association, accompanied by the Ladies' Brass Band, under the conductorship of Mr Hilmer Davie, recently visited the Orokonui Home, James Powell Rest Home, and the Seacliff Mental Hospital. A concert was given at each place. The items by the band were much appreciated, and the novelty drumming by the drummers was one of the outstanding numbers. Three cornet players. Bandswomen Morya Meenan, Eileen Meenan, and Thirza Waters, played “ Three Sisters,” accompanied by Bar.dswoman June Meenan at the piano. Assisting performers were Bandswoman Joan de Crewe and Miss Doris Darracott, and Mrs J. Yule was the accompanist. A short dance for the patients was held at Seacliff, music being provided by Mrs J. Yule and Bandswoman Condor. Dr P. Milne returned thanks to the party on behalf of the patients at Orokonui Home, the matron of the patients at the James Powell Rest Home, and Dr Hay on behalf of the patients at Seacliff.
