ANNUAL MEETING OF GRAND

LODGE

The annual meeting of the Grand Lodge of Otago and Southland, United Ancient Order of Druids, which was held in Invercargill on Saturday, was well attended, there being a full muster of delegates. The grand president, Bro. C. H. Frampton, presided. A remit from Enterprise Lodge asked the Grand Lodge to . rescind the provision in the rules whereby candidates for admission are required to sign a declaration relieving the society of all claims should they proceed on active service.—The remit was lost. A notice of motion from Enterprise Lodge asked the incoming Board of Management to draw up a scheme providing for a weekly pension of 10s for members upon attaining the age of 65. —It was agreed that the motion be considered at the next annual meeting. Endeavour Lodge suggested that the Benevolent Fund be restricted to £IOOO and the surplus distributed to lodges. —Several amendments to this proposal were suggested, but all were eventually withdrawn in favour of a scheme of insurance outlined by Grand Secretary Bro. Rankin. This will be submitted to the incoming Board of Mangement. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Grand president, Bro. H. A. Tyrell; grand vice-president, Bro. M. L. J. It was decided to hold the next meeting in Dunedin.
