THE FRUIT OF SIN
POPE’S COMMENT ON WAR
LONDON, Mar. 18. Addressing a large Passion Sunday congregation in St. Peter's Square, the Pope declared that war was the fruit of sin. There was but one road to salvation —to repudiate once and for all the idolatry of extreme nationalism, the pride of tribe, race, and blood, covetousness and the worship of worldly goods, and to turn resolutely to a spirit of Christian brotherhood, based on common worship of the Heavenly Father. The reconciliation of the peoples of the world must be based on justice, brotherhood, and solid peace. .
