LOVAT SCOUTS’ RECORD
SKILL IN PATROL WORK RUGBY. Mar. 18. In seven months of fighting in Italy the Lovat Scouts have collectedthree Military Crosses and five Military Medals as a proof of their skill in patrolling, as well as several mentions in despatches. Their job is a specialists' one, for which they (rained for two years in the Faroe Islands, Canada, and now in Italy. These hardy Scotsmen from the glens and estates of the Highlands were born with the skill of the hunt in their blood, and have been taught its application to the art of war. They are sent to probe into the German lines, using every piece of cunning they possess to outwit the Germans, who arc always waiting for them. The regiment was founded in 1900 by Lord Lovat, the father of (he present Brigadier Lord Lovat. The requisite medical category for the Lovat Scouts is not just Al, but “At plus."
