ST. KILDA AFFAIRS

Sir,—After reading the account of the St. Kilda Council meeting on Monday last one wonders why one of the councillors objected to an open discussion on the application for repairs to certain properties in the borough. If I am correct in supposing that one of the applications for repairs was in connection with a very old house situated in Victoria road, which for years lias been a standing disgrace to the neighbours around, and practically condemned as unfit'for human habitation, one wonders what was behind that councillor's mind or what was his object in not wanting an open discussion. —I am, etc., Forbury. March 17.
