THE HAIRPIN SHORTAGE
Sir,—War-time has brought about manv shortages. som% of which have been met to a certain extent. One necessary requirement affecting a section of the feminine community is the ordinary • useful hairpin. There are many of our sex who elect to keep their tresses, believing that a woman’s glory is her hair. Surely some meta! could be diverted to this purpose. which is. in reality, a token of womanhood. Perhaps some responsible business person would be kind enough to move in the matter and so save the situation. The writer knows of a request sent from Canterbury to Southland privately in a desperate effort to procure hairpins At. present “ invisible ” ones only appear to be in stock, and they are of little use.—I am, etc., Request.
