THREAT TO INDO-CHINA
(Rec. 11 p.m.) CHUNGKING, Mar. 17. The Chinese press reports that Japanese communications in Indo-China are seriously threatened by the recapture of Funan, 30 miles south-west of Nanning. A Japanese attempt on March 9 to land troops on Pingtan Island, south-east of Foochow, was repulsed. Three landing barges were captured and one was sunk. Patriots on the night of March 7 blew up the Japanese Consulate at Inchang, killing 14 Japanese officers and destroying the radio station.
