NOTES FROM RICCARTON
(Special) CHRISTCHURCH, Jan 5. Light rain set in last night, and there was no sign of improvement this morning. As a result, only half a dozen horses put in an appearance at the track. G. Rldgway, who arrived home this week from the North Island, has left again for Wingatui, where he will have St. Joachim racing to-morrow. J. M. Olive returned nome this morning with Nurnie, Junior, and the two-year-old Finalist, who raced without success at the Manawatu and Marton meetings. F. A. Roberts is at Trentham with John Gay, Irish Note, Arustra, Quick Rise, and Lalla Meer. They are all in good order and they will be raced at the Wellington meeting before they return home. Gay Fort, who is now in the team of » C. G. Humphries, has done no racing since Easter, so he is backward. He will be educated with a view to a trial over hurdles. There are indications that a strong team from Riccarton will assist at the Wellington Racing Club’s meeting this month.
