R.A.F.’s BOMB LOAD ON GERMANY 525,T)00 TONS LAST YEAR RUGBY. Jan. 4. R.A.F. bombers set a staggering record in 1944 in their campaign against German industry, which contributed so greatly to the enemy’s present plight. During the year more than 525,000 tons of bombs, which was more than twice the weight dropped in the first four and a-quarter years of war, were dropped on Germany. Thirty-five per cent, of this load Was dropped on industrial towns, 18 per cent, on transport, 16 per cent, in direct support of the Allied armies, and 11 per cent, on V-weapon sites and supply depots. Seven per cent, was dropped on German oil industry, 3 per cent, on oil storage depots, 4 per cent, on German aircraft industry, 3 per cent, on ports and shipping, and 3 per cent, on unspecified targets. Mosquitoes of Bomber Command last night attacked Berlin twice. The first raid was made just after dark and the second about midnight.
