STRAND THEATRE

DOUBLE-FEATURE PROGRAMME An exciting drama of the work of the mine sweepers and a gay musical comedy make up the new programme which commenced at the Strand Theatre yesterday. Richard Arlen and Russell Hayden are the principal players in “Minesweeper,” in which both men, who arc rivals for the affections of Jean Parker, participate in many exciting experiences. The climax comes when the two are sent to deal with a mysterious Japanese mine, both being aware of the tremendous risk involved. The supporting feature, “ Moon Over Las Vegas,” stars the well-known radio entertainer, Vera Vague, and such popular screen players as Anne Gwynne, David Bruce, Alan Dinehart, and Vivian Austin. Bruce and Miss Gwynne act the parts of a modern married couple whose happiness is threatened by the speed of present-day living. Timely and tuneful musical selections are given by Connie Haines, Lillian Cornell, Jimmy Dodd. Gene Austin, the Sherrett Sisters. and the Sportsmen.
