PICNIC AT ARAMOANA

The Aramoana Progress League held a successful picnic and shorts meeting on New Year’s Day. There was an attendance of about 300 people, mainly from Dunedin, Port Chalmers and parts of the Peninsula. Among the 20 sporting events which were held during the afternoon was a cross-country run, the winner being Erie Cassie, followed by Les Crammond. B. Lee, G. Dalziell and N. McDonald. In the evening a concert was given by children residing at Aramoana. At the recent annual meeting of the league the following office-bearers were elected.—President, Mr Zimmerman; vicepresident, Mr A. Knewstubb; honorary secretary, Mr R. Murray; committee— Messrs B. Rennie, L. Childs, G. Brook. G. Brook, jun., and Dabinett.
