A meeting of trotting men representing the Eastern, Central, Western, and Invercargill districts was held at Invercargill on Tuesday for the purpose of fdrming a Southland branch of the New Zealand Trotting Owners, Trainers, and Breeders Association. Mi-E. G. Mitchell, secretary of the Canterbury branch of the association, outlined the work the Canterbury branch was doing in the interests of the sport, and Mr G. R. Hunter. M.L.C., a member of the Canterbury branch, also spoke and pointed out the advantages of such a body in a strong trotting centre like Southland. Several speakers stated that the formation of a Southland branch of the association would be enthusiastically received in the various centres in Southland. It was decided to call a general meeting at an early date. Mr N. R. Brown, a member of the committee of the Invercargill Trotting Club, presided.
