POPE DISLIKES JAZZ

PREFERS SYMPHONIC MUSIC

LONDON, Dec. 5.

The Pope deplored the predominance of jazz in wireless programmes when he received the staff of the Rome radio at the Vatican, says the Daily Telegraph’s Rome correspondent. The Pope said: “I find it hard lo get a programme of symphonic music. Instead I‘usually find you playing jazz, and as I get no pleasure from this I am obliged to turn the radio off almost as soon as I switch it on.”

Signor Passigli, chief of the Rome station, promised to see what could be done to reduce the proportion of jazz.
