SHEEP VALUES MAINTAINED
(P.A.) INVERCARGILL, Dec. 12. There was a yarding of 731 fat sheep at the Lornevillc stock sale to-day. The majority of the sheep were of only medium quality. Values were about on a par witl) those of last week. Good quality shorn wethers made from 33s Gd to 34s 6d, medium quality 30s 6d to 325, and aged and unfinished 28s to 29s 6d; over-weight ewes, 17s to 18s; good quality butchers ewes, 20s to 21s 6d; medium quality, 16s Gd to 17s 6d; and Inferior, 14s 6d to 15s Gd; medium quality woolly ewes. 26s 6d to 28s 6d, and unfinished sorts 22s to 23s 6d. An entry of 82 fat lambs was forward. Tlie quality generally was good. Extra good lambs realised to 375; prime heavy lambs, 34s 6d to 35s 6d; medium sorts, 30s to 31s 6d; lighter weights, 28s to 295; and unfinished, 25s 6d to 26s 6d. There was a full entry of fat cattle, 190 head being varded. Fully half the yarding comprised good quality bullocks, heifers and cows, the remainder being unfinished sorts with a fair percentage of aged and inferior cows. For the better quality cattle the -market opened slightly better and showed a steady improvement on last week's rates right up to the concluding stages. Prime quality heavyweight bullocks realised from £lB 10s to £2O: medium-weights, £ls 15s to £l7; light-weights, £l3 10s to £l4 10s; and small, £lO to £ll 10s; good quality medium-weight heifers, £l4 to £ls 10s; handy weights £l2 10s to £l3 10s; lightweights, £ll to £ll 15s; and small. £8 to £9 10s; good quality cows. £l3 to £l4 10s: medium quality. £lO 10s to £ll 10s; unfinished, £8 to £9, and aged and inferior, £4 to £6.
