CRICKET IN OTAGO

A meeting of the committee of the Otago Cricket Association was held last night, the president (Mr W. R. Brinsley) occupying the chair. The dates suggested by the Southland Cricket Association for the return match between Otago and Southland, at Dunedin, were January 5 and 6, and these were approved. It was decided to advise the Southland Association that: it would be impossible to arrange a match between lunior teams on the same dates because of the difficulty of arranging billets at that time of the year. The date for the resumption of the club games after the holidays was fixed for January 13. , x The Canterbury Cricket Association approved of February 9, 10, and 12 as the dates for the match between Otago and Canterbury, at Dunedin, with the proviso that, should a match also be arranged between Canterbury and Southland at Invercargill, the alternative dates for the Otago match would be February 10, 12, and 13. Mr J. A. Robson was appointed manager of the Otago team to play Canterbury, at Christchurch, on December 23, 25, and 26, and Mr J. A. Young manager of the Otago team for the Brabin Shield match (for players under 21). against Canterbury, at Christchurch, on December 29 and 30. It was decided to play a match on December 23 between a Carisbrook senior eleven and the Otago Brabin Shield team. Mr W. A. Rowland was appointed manager of the Otago team for the match against Wellington, at» Dunedin, on December 30, January 1 and 2. A recommendation from the Grade Committee was approved that the transfer rule should be strictly enforced in future, and that after all applications for transfer had been considered by the Grade Committee they should be approved by the association.
