SHAKESPEARE SEASON
PLANS OPEN THIS MORNING This morning, at the D.1.C., plans wUI be opened for the Shakespeare plays, "Hamlet” and "Othello, which are to be presented at His Majesty s Theatre for a season of seven nights and two matinees. commencing next Saturday afternoon, by Miss Ngaio Marsh’s company of players from Canterbury University College. The success of these productions in Christchurch, where Hamlet hsu, been twice revived, encouraged Mr D. D. O’Connor to book a Dominion tour for the company. Owing to war-time restrictions, however, this has had to be confined to Dunedin, Auckland, and Wellington. It is hoped that as many students and young people as possible will see one or both of the plays, but as the tour can take place only during the vacation it will not be possible to organise school parties. The management offers special concessions to all school children. A feature of the performances is the incidental music, which has been specially composed by Mr Douglas Lilburn, of Christchurch.
