TECHNICAL COLLEGE CONCERTS

Sir—lf the statements in your correspondent, D. M. Robertson’s, letter are correct, this is a matter calling for very urgent attention. There is no need foi me to eulogise this choir, whose remaikable achievement was appreciated by thousands of our citizens at its last broadcast. Suffice it to say that it was the first time in mv musical experience that I had listened to a combination of this size where, in addition to the harmonic perfection, each word and phrase of the ''Hallelujah chorus was articulated so as to be clearly understood. I am proud to think that the King Edward Technical College can train a choir to a magnificence that could warrant attention in any part of the world. That there is any question of refusing to broadcast every performance of this choir is incredible, but I am confident that the citizens of Dunedin and Otago will make known in no uncertain manner what their will is in this respect. In a true democracy the will of the people is given effect to. liot the wishes of a broadcasting board. The question arises, which is the greater value a few moments of serial thrill as thought suitable for us.by the authorities or the immeasurable cultural wealth our boys and girls are striving to offer to us and to those who follow?—I am, etc.. Ten Thousand Alices. Dunedin, October 23.
