Mr James Begg was a passenger by the express yesterday morning on his way to Wellington. The Commissioner of Police, Mr D. J. Cummings, who has been visiting the southern police districts prior to his retirement at the end of the month, left by the express yesterday morning on his return to Wellington. The Rev. F. J. Green, who has recently returned to New Zealand after three years’ service in the Middle East, has been called by the congregation of St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Rotorua, to fill the vacancy caused by the transfer of the Rev. A. Marshall to Oamaru. Mr Green, who is a prominent Rugby football player, graduated at the University of Otago and after completing his course for study for the ministry at the Theological Hall at Knox College, went to Edinburgh for further study.
