VERY LITTLE GROWTH
FARM AND MARKET SURVEY The weather in North Otago this.week has been cold, with very little growth. There have been some light showers. Warmer conditions with a good rainfall would be very welcome. Wheat.—The demand for seed wheat has ceased, and reports to hand state that very little seed wheat went out to farmers in September. Oats.— There is very little business passing in oats, as there are practically no lines to come forward. The demand for seed has also been disappointing, and it is anticipated that not a very large area has been sown in white oats. Chaff.—There is no demand, and the North Island appears to be still well supplied. Growers are Inclined to accept lower prices to effect clearances. Seeds.—The retail demand for seeds is still comparatively quiet, and the demand on the wholesale market for ryegrass and clovers is very l.mlted. It is possible that the drought in . Australia may have an effect on our market for seeds. A good rain in the district would assist greatly in the retail demand for small seeds.
