SYDNEY FROG FARMER
DROUGHT AFFECTS BUSINESS (OC.) SYDNEY, Oct. 4. Mr Othello Leander Gebuhr, of Sydney, is engaged in one of Australia’s most novel occupations—that of a frog farmer. Mr Gebuhr started keeping frogs m 1914, and has since sold thousands every year, mainly to the university, where medical students use them for studying heart-beats and blood circulation. Drought years have hurt Mr Gebuhr’s prosperous little industry. In 1940 he sold 3325 frogs to Sydney University, but since thep his stock has dwindled to 100. Frogs, he said, will not lay eggs in dry weather.
