ILLEGAL PROFITS
FRENCH INDUSTRIALISTS LONDON, Oct. 4.
Strong measures against French industrialists who have collaborated with the Germans is foreshadowed in a new decree of the French Provisional Government ordering confiscation of all illegal profits between September 1, 1939. and December 31, 1944. All profits derived from trading with the enemy, from black markets, or from any other such transactions come within this category. Those found guilty may be fined three times the amount of the profits made. The decree, like the nationalisation of the coal mines and the commandeering of the Renault factories in Paris, is to meet the widespread demand for repressive measures against collaborationist business men.
