RELEASED PRISONERS

FORWARDING OF MAIL (Special) WELLINGTON, Oct. 6. Referring to-day to letters and parcels for prisoners of war in Germany which senders intend forwarding to the care of the High Commissioner for New Zealand in London to be held pending the release of the men, the Postmastergeneral (Mr P. C. Webb) emphasised the importance of such correspondence bearing a clear indication to the effect that it is to be so held. The Minister suggested as a suitable endorsement the words “ P.0.W.; to be held pending release.” Mr Webb stated that in such cases the prisoner’s camp address need notbe shown. It was desirable, however, that the regimental number of the man should be included.
