NAVY LEAGUE NOTES
The Women’s Committee of the Navy League held its October meeting orr Wednesday. During the month 298 knitted comforts for men had been received, as well as 40 books, 152 magazines, 199 children’s garments, including sortie quilts, six cot blankets, a few packets of food, a parcel of spun wool, of fleeces, and some
a cake, one gift
weJcome monetary donations. Comforts sent away included 62 to eight individual men, and 45 to men of a Coastal Command; a merchant ship received 13 pairs of sea-boot stockings, 72 tins of meat, 461 b of cake, marmalade, and some miscellaneous foodstuffs, 40 books, and 40 magazines. Forty-three tins of chocolate had been sent to ex-Sea Cadets 6n active service. It is known there are other exSea Cadets, but their addresses have not so far been received.
The spinning room workers had made 53Jlb of spun wool, and were very grateful for a gift of fleeces, as the store is getting rather low. The Girls’ Auxiliary had given cne evening’s hospitality to visiting seamen, helped at the Services' Club, spent one Saturday af ernoon sewing, and helped to pack the Sea Cadets’ chocolate boxes, assistance with these parcels 'also being given by the Ross and Glendining gown factory group. After the meeting Members packed blue bags, counted and tied up many dozens of garments ready for despatch, and prepared cards for inclusion in the cakes for the New Zealand minesweepers’ Christmas parcels. The next overseas consignment will be packed by the end of this month.
