(Special) CHRISTCHURCH, June 19. The Canterbury Jockey Club has a total of 891 nominations for its six classic races, compared with 913 last year. The following are the details, with last year’s figures in parentheses: Welcome Stakes, 110 (117); Middle Park Plate, 111 (114); Champagne Stakes, 157 (155); Challenge Stakes, 173 (173); Derby. 216 (232); Oaks, 124 (122). F. A. Roberts will send Gynerio north this week to join H. C. Nesbitt’s stable at Trentham.

D. Cotton is educating Hippodrome and Good Fun as jumpers. They are shaping well in their preliminary efforts in their home paddock. Irish Note is back in work, and he is in good order to start on another preparation. The present intention is to give him a race at the Grand National meeting, but not in the Winter Cup.

Tea Drop continues to go very well in his schooling over hurdles, and if he remains sound he should pay his way in this department.
