GIFT TO NORTH ISLAND SCHOOL A short time ago the Mayor (Mr J. C. Kirkness) received a communication from the Northcoie District High School, Auckland, advising that two large new buildings had been erected for the school, and requesting a gift of a view or views of Oamaru for inclusion in a gallery of pictures of scenes from' various parts of New Zealand. Mr A. C. Piper, of Oamaru, has provided for this purpose two very fine pho.ographic studies of scenes in the Oamaru Public Gardens, which arc at present, being displayed in Mr H. Familton’s shop window. The first is a scene, “ Early Autumn,” and the second, “ Winter Sunshine,” and both are splendid examples of the photographer’s art
