FAT STOCK PRICES IMPROVE (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 14. At the Addington sale to-day fat cattle and fat sheep showed an increase on last week's prices. Fat pigs also advanced slightly. Store Sheep.—There was an entry of 4400, compared with 1900 last week. Owing probably to the recent bad weather the demand all round showed a slight decline. Best ewe lambs made from 24s to 265, and medium up to 225. Wether lambs sold from 17s 6d to 225. A line of high-country ewes, in lamb to Romney rams, ranged from 27s Gd to 28s 6d. Medium and inferior lots were hard to sell at from 13s to 16s 6d. The few wethers forward sold at late rates.

Fat Sheep.—The entry numbered about 5000, and with an improvement in quality compared with recent sales, prices for ail classes showed a rise of about 3s a head. The highest price for ewes was 29s Id and for wethers 44s Id. The entry was again limited, but some high-class sheep were forward. Fat Cattle.—There was an entry of 486 compared with 470 last week. Quality was better, the outside entries helping in this respect. The market opened firm at' last week's rates, and continued so throughout. On the average, prime beef advanced up to 15s a head, and best-class cows by 10s a head. Best beef made up to 47s 6d per 1001 b, good to 445, and secondary to 38s. Best cow beef sold to 38s, and good to 355. Fat Pigs.—The porker sale was on a par with last week’s. The baconer yarding was the smallest of the season, and prices showed an advance of 2s a head. The average price per lb was BJd to 9d.
