MASTERY OF EXECUTION
MARSHAL STALIN’S PRAISE RUGBY, June 13. “ The history of wars does not know of a similar undertaking of such scope and conception on a great scale and such mastery in execution,” said Marshal Stalin in reply to a question by a representative of Pravda. “ Summing up the seven days’ battles by the liberating forces of the Allies who invaded Northern France, one can say without hesitation that the forcing of the Channel along a wide front and the mass landing operations of the Allied forces in Northern France has succeeded fully. This doubtless is a brilliant success for our Allies. “As is known, invincible Napoleon failed disgracefully in his plan to cross the Channel and capture the British Isles. Hysterical Hitler, who bragged for two years that he would force the Channel, has not even dared to attempt to carry out his threat. Only the British and American forces succeeded in realising with honour the grandiose plan of forcing the Channel and making a mass landing of troops. History will make this an achievement of the highest order.”
