HUGE TRANSPORT PLANE
LOCKHEED CONSTELLATION TRANSCONTINENTAL SPEED RECORD (Rec. 11 p.m.) WASHINGTON. Apl. 17. A huge new 40-ton Lockheed transport, the Constellation, landed from Butbank (California), establishing a transcontinental speed record of 418 minutes. The Constellation was piloted by the co-designer, Mr Howard Hughes. It will be converted into an army-trans-port. It has a cruising speed of over 300 miles an hour.
