The original proposal to hold a street day was confirmed, and Mr J. Caldwell reported on the progress in the organisation of this appeal. It was also decided to hold a Scottish community sing on the evening of May 4, Mr A. Macdonald being appointed convener of a committee to prepare a suitable programme. The Mayor promised the use of the Town Flail free of charge if it were not already engaged for the occasion.

Sutherland Ross, J. R. Fairbairn, A. McMillan, C. V. Smith, W. R. Don, and A. Macdonald, was set up to undertake this work. It was also decided to further the appeal by means of the press and radio, and a committee was appointed to control publicity.
