MANCHESTER UNITY

The annual balance sheet presented to members of the Loyal Albion Lodge showed an appreciable decrease in the amount paid out in sickness benefits. There were no*hrrears of interest, and the arrears of contributions were very small indeed—altogether, a satisfactory state of affairs, due in no small measure to the work of the permanent secretary in particular and the lodge officers in general. Interesting communications were received from Bros. Harvey. McLachlan, and James, who are on service overseas, and Bro. V. Gain, a prisoner of war. Loyal Valley met under the guidance of Bro. H. McFarlane, who welcomed P.G. Bro. Geo. Robertson, an Air Force member on furlough. Bro. Robertson has throughout his three years of active service kept in touch with lodge activities. Arrangements were made to play Loyal Dunedin Lodge at bowls next lodge night. The attendance of visitors was very good. A redent visitor to the lodge was P.G. Bro. Griffiths, of Loyal Naseby. N.G. Bro. O. Kroft presided over the meeting of Loyal Dunedin and welcomed visitors from Loyal Centenary, Princess Mary, Valley, Caversham, Albion, and Hand and Heart Lodges. Routine business was transacted, members on the sickness benefit fund receiving special consideration.
