CHARGE OF DESERTION
In the City Police Court yesterday Ng Kong, a Chinese seaman, aged 2G, appeared before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., on a charge of deserting from an overseas vessel at Lyttelton. The accused, who did not £peak English, admitted that he was the person mentioned in the charge. At the request of Senior Sergeant Vaughan, who represented the police, the accused was remanded to appear at Christchurch tomorrow.
