WAIAREKA SALE
FAT STOCK PRICES DROP (Special) OAMARU, Jan. 5. Prices for both fat cattle and fat sheep dropped at the Waiareka sale, to-day. Fat cattle were from £1 to £1 10s cheaper than at last week’s sale, and fat sheep were from 3s to 5s per head cheaper. There were medium yardings of fat cattle and sheep, and a small yarding of pigs Prime ox beef can be quoted at £2 10s per 1001 b, heifer beef at about £2 per 1001 b, and cow beef at 20s per 1001 b. Prices:— Fat Cattle.—Best steers, £l4 to £l6 ss; medium, £lO 15s to £l2 15s; light, down to £8; heifers, £6 10s to £lO 12s 6d; best cows, £7 15s to £10; light, £5 to £6 15s.
Fat Sheep.—Best wethers, 34s 6d to 38s 4d; medium, 30s to 32s 9d; light, 27s bd to 29s 6d; best ewes, 22s 6d to 245; medium, 17s to 20s 9d; light, down to 15s 9d; lambs. 30s 3d to 325.
Dairy Cattle.—An extra good cow coming to the third calving, £6 2s 6d. Pigs.—From 8s to 10s.
