BURNSIDE MARKET
SMALL ENTRIES FORWARD FIRM SALE FOR BEEF Entries at the Burnside sale yesterday, were small in all sections. Fat cattle, numbering 190, met with good competition, the sale being firm throughout. The yarding of fat sheep was made up mostly of poor quality, but the sale on the whole could be quoted firm on the prices of a fortnight ago. The entry of fat pigs was somewhat larger than at the recent sale, and although prices were quite satisfactory, they barely maintained late rates. There was practically nothing in the store pens, but the yarding of vealers was the largest for some time, the number forward exceeding requirements. Fat Cattle. —The number offered was 190 head, made up mostly of prime and medium sorts, with an odd pen of prime heavy. There was a keen demand lor all classes of ox beef, and although prices barely equalled those of a fortnight ago the sale could be quoted a good one. Cows, however, were in poorer demand, and were easier by 10s to 15s a head. Quotations: Prime heavy bullocks, to £22
