GIANT FLYING BOATS
NUMBER FOR AMERICAN NAVY (Rec. 0.15 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 5. The navy has ordered 20 Mars Hying boats for the naval air transport service. These flying boats have the cubic capacity of a 15-room house. Admiral Emory Land, chairman of the Maritime Commission, in a speech,, said the aeroplane will supersede giant liners like the Queen Mary, of which no more will be built. The aeroplane, with its higher speed, will cut heavily into the higher-priced passenger traffic and mail revenues on which the liners rely.
