Mr W. R. Sinclair and Mr E. Y. Smith, who have been spending a holiday at Walmate, returned to Dunedin last night. Mrs Bonar Lindsay, of Anderson’s Bay, has received information that her husband, Dr A. Bonar Lindsay, was awarded the 0.8. E. in the King’s Birthday Honours for services in Burma and Eastern frontier operations. A British Official Wireless message says that the King has approved of the extension'of'the term of office of Colonel Sir Leslie Wilson, Governor of Queensland, for a further period of 12 months. This is the fourth extension and gives Sir Leslie Wilson 13 years in the office, which is believed to be a record of governorship in any part of the Empire. Passengers who left for the north by the airliner yesterday were Miss G. Braid and Mrs L. Ling for Christchurch, Mr L. Bell, Mrs J. Arthur, Mr C. McDonald, Miss P. Wigley, and Mr A. Cambourne for Wellington, the Rev. W. Crawford and Mrs Crawford and Miss J. M. Gervain for Auckland. Passengers who arrived by the afternoon plane, were Mr J. McConnell and Mr and Mrs V/. W. Whittaker from Auckland, Master C. Louissoa from Palmerston North, Mrs Wachner, Miss J. Veitch, Mr H. Carton, Mrs W. J. Thompson, and Miss M. Mcßride from Wellington, and Mrs E. Mitchell from Christchurch.
