OCCUPIED COUNTRIES

PARTISANS FIGHTING GERMANS LONDON, Nov. 15. Partisans in France and Italy are still actively opposing the Germans, according to' reports received from Algiers and Stockholm. In the Milan area 15,000 to 20,000 Italian partisans arc holding out against the Germans, who have failed to encircle them and are now expected to employ planes and motorised troops. Algiers radio says all German attempts to end French patriot resistance in the mountains have thus far failed. The Germans, before the outset of winter, tried to isolate the centres of resistance, cut off supplies, and break up the rebel bands by offering an amnesty, but must now be content to guard the outlets from the valleys. A communique issued by the Jugoslav Army of Liberation states: “ German troops in Dalmatia launched a big operation at several points in an attempt to occupy beaches and islands in the Adriatic. The Germans achieved some success in a counter-offensive on the Preljesac Peninsula. Our troops are continuing their offensive operations in the Croat provinces, Serbia, Macedonia, and Bosnia.
