THE KIWI CONCERT PARTY
Sir,—l notice that the Kiwi Concert
Party is playing only two nights in Dunedin. Is that fair? For the past three years the people of Dunedin have subscribed handsomely to the Patriotic Fund, and now that there is an opportunity to see one visible benefit of our benevolence we find that only two concerts are allotted to us. The largest suitable theatre probably holds only 1500, making a total of 3000, or about 4 per cent, of our population, while at least 25 per cent, would gladly patronise these entertainers who are spoken of so highly by our boys returned from overseas. Surely the local Patriotic Board could get the season extended. General Freyberg in his speech at the R.S.A. mentioned how pleased he was with these entertainers, and hoped that everyone would have the opportunity of seeing them "on the stage.” Unless something is done immediately, only a privileged few can possibly do so.—l am, etc., August 13. Old Soldier.
