JOHN McGLASHAN COLLEGE

The monthly meeting of the John McGlashan College Board of Governors was held on Thursday evening, Mr T. C. Ross presiding. The headmaster reported that the health of the boys had been very good this term, and that the roll number had been maintained. The boys had helped in the recent schools’ patriotic effort, and a satisfactory sum had been contributed. , , The board was gratified to learn that one of the old boys. Mr Ronald Elvidge, who had had a’ very fine athletic record while at the college, had been selected to represent the South Island in the interisland Rugby football match. The chairman reported at an anonymous bequest of £IOOO had been left to the college for the purpose of starting a fund for a chapel. A bequest had also been received from the J. M. Fraser estate to provide a cricket bat trophy for the best all-round cricketer.

Authority was granted for the purchase of additional physics equipment.
