BANNED BY GERMANY
SWEDISH EXPORTS TO ITALY (Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 13. The German authorities informed the Swedish railways that the transit of Swedish exports to Italy in future would not be permitted, says Reuter’s Stockholm correspondent, quoting the Svenska Dagbladet. Observers interpret the ban as a symptom of German railway difficulties or distrust of Italy, rather than a reprisal for the Swedish cancellation of German transit traffic, though the latter explanation is not excluded.
