DUNEDIN MILK SUPPLY
HINT OF EARLY IMPROVEMENT (F.0.P.R.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 13. The position of producers supplying milk to Dunedin was mentioned by Mr W. A. Bodkin (Oppn., Central Otago) druing consideration of the Estimates in the House of Representatives to-day. It was, he said, very unsatisfactory, and this was admitted by officers of the Department of Agriculture. At present milk was drawn from all over the country, but if the supply could be put on a satisfactory basis from the producers’ point of view the dairy farmers in the Taieri district would take steps to ensure that an adequate supply was available for Dunedin and Otago schools in the future. ’
The Minister of Industries and Commerce, Mr D. G. Sullivan, said that the report of the Milk Commission would be available is a day or so. He could drop a hint that it would contain something that would meet the position referred to by the member for Central Otago.
