WELCOME HOME SOCIAL
FUNCTION AT MOSGIEL
The residents of Mosgiel and the surrounding districts tendered a welcome home social last night in the Coronation Hall to members of the armed forces who have returned from overseas. The Mayor of Mosgiel (Mr W. P. Hartstonge), who presided, briefly welcomed the men. The programme opened with a selection of items by Mr John Leech’s concert party. Supper followed, and the function was brought to a close with a dance, the music for which was supplied by the Royal Dance Band. - .. ‘
The concert programme was as follows: Song, " White Cliffs of Dover,” Miss Addy Forman; medley of popular songs, Miss Eileen Gillies; humorous numbers, Miss Billie Long; song, “ Home Bells Ringing,” Mrs Noni Masters; song, “ Yeomen of England,” Mr Walter Mitchell; song, “ Something About a Soldier,” Miss Gwenda Burt; piano duet, “ William Tell.” overture, Misses Olive and Ellice Neiper; song, ” Go to the Dance,” Miss Dorothy Sligo; sketch, Miss Gwenda Burt and the girls; song, “ God Remembers,” Miss Jean McLay. Mrs John Leech was the accompanist, and Mr Leech master of ceremonies.
