DECORATIONS FROM AMERICA RUGBY, Aug. 10. General Sir Harold Alexander, General Sir Bernard Montgomery, LieutenantgeneralK. A. N. Anderson, and Majorgeneral H. M. Gale have been appointed Chief Commanders of the Legion of Merit by President Roosevelt. Lieutenantgenerals F. M. Mason Macfarlane and C. W. Allfrey have been appointed commanders, and 13 other high British officers at the same time have been made officers of the legion. The King has granted unrestricted permission for the wearing of the decorations, which have been conferred in recognition of distinguished services In the cause of the Allies.”
