FINE OF £loo
GAMING HOUSE CHARGE A fine of £IOO and costs was imposed on ArthuriEdwin Lord, aged 62, who appeared before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, SM., in the City Police Court yesterday and pleaded guilty to having used his premises in Anderson’s Bay as a common gaming house. Chief Detective Holmes said that the defendant had previously been before the court for gaming offences, but since 1932 he had not come under the notice of the police until Saturday afternoon last, when a record of about 30 bets was found in his home. From the information available to the police, he appeared to be' operating only in a small way. The magistrate, imposing the fine, remarked that in view of the defendant’s past convictions the penalty must be a substantial one.
