CROMWELL
Snow on Ranges.—Snow and rain fell last Monday and the ranges, which had been gradually clearing, are again white. Rain fell on the flats and conditions underfoot have been anything but pleasant. Temperatures are milder. First Signs of Spring.—An indication of the advent of spring is seen in the Cromwell Gorge, where the almond trees are showing the .first, blossom of the season. These hardy trees are the first to bloom in the district, and following the succession of hard frosts which have been experienced, the promise of warmer weather is evident by these signs. Girl Guides. —The annual meeting of the Girl Guides’ Committee was presided over b> Mrs G. Mitchell. Captain Scott presented her thirteenth annual report of Guide activity, followed by the Tawny Owl’s (Miss I. Cowan) report of Brownie work.
